Eyelash Extension FAQs

Q
What are eyelash extensions?
A

They are individually applied synthetic mink lashes that add length, fullness and curl to your natural lashes. These lashes are weightless and stay on for up to 1 month.

Q
Tell me about the process.
A

Relax with your eyes closed – there is no pain as this is a non-invasive application. Most clients even fall asleep!  During the process a synthetic lash is glued next to your own natural eyelash, approximately 1mm from the base of your eyelash so that neither the glue nor the synthetic mink lash has contact with the skin.

Q
How long will the application take?
A

A full set takes approximately 90 minutes, while a re-lash takes between 45-60 minutes.

Q
How long do they last?
A

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and significantly lengthen and thicken natural lashes. The extensions can be maintained indefinitely with touch ups. On average, our clients book in for re-lash appointments every 2-3 weeks, however this may vary based on your lash growth cycle, how you sleep and how well you care for your extensions.

Q
How do I take them off/remove them?
A

The extensions are easily removed by our Lash Stylist using an oil based removing solution.

Q
Will the extensions damage my natural lashes?
A

No, not when applied properly by our certified Lash Stylist.  One synthetic mink lash is applied to one natural lash with a medical grade glue.  They are very light weight.  When your natural lash completes its growth cycle and falls out, the attached synthetic lash falls off with it and a new lash grows in its place.

Q
Do people have reactions? What if I’m allergic?
A

Our Lash Stylists tells us it’s very rare that someone experiences irritation. If there is a reaction, it will be apparent shortly after the application. If this occurs, the extensions must be removed by our Lash Stylist, which is quick and painless. A glue specifically made for sensitive eyes can also be provided based on request, or if you experience a reaction.

Q
Can I swim, shower, exercise with them on?
A

During the first 24 hours you are required to keep the lashes dry to ensure proper curing of the glue. After this period, you can resume these activities.

Q
Can I wear mascara?
A

No it is not recommended.  You can roll out of bed looking great and best of all, your lashes will look like you’re wearing mascara 24/7 without the clumping, streaking, and smudging that you get with mascara.

Q
Do I need to use special products?
A

We carry several eyelash extension compatible products. It is important not to use oil based products near the extensions as they weaken the bond of the glue and result in premature lash fall out.
